🌱 Seed Milks

Sesame Milk

Sesame is one of humanity's oldest oilseed crops, pressed in Mesopotamia thousands of years ago and woven into food cultures from tahini to halva across the Middle East and Asia. Sesame milk is its modern encore: American brand Hope & Sesame launched sesamemilk in 2019, upcycling the nutritious seed left over from oil pressing, while Thailand's Sesamilk and California's Three Trees offer their own takes, including black sesame versions. The taste is distinctly nutty and faintly halva-like, with a savoury depth that sets it apart from sweeter milks. It's one of the most protein-rich plant milks (some cartons match dairy), and it does well in coffee, smoothies, baking and savoury dishes.
